Heritage Run

Sections have now been made, there will be 100 on the Classic Heritage Run and over 60 very special vehicles on the Range Rover Anniversary Run.

Inter club Challenge

The Land Rover Club (in association with The Heritage Motor Centre & Land Rover Experience) are pleased to announce the launch of the 2010 Inter-Club Challenge trophy contest.

The contest will be held at the Celebration of Range Rovers 40th birthday event @ Gaydon on Saturday May 1st.

There will be a number of interesting challenges spread throughout the day, with the use of some rare and interesting vehicles from the Heritage Motor Centre.

So that the clubs get to know each other a bit better, we are looking for "willing volunteers" to step up and host an event on their club stand.

Teams should be made up of 10 people, with extra points awarded for including both a female and a juvenile (14-18)

15.00: The Story
Previously unpublished photographs from the Fifty/50 Challenge which marked Land Rover's fiftieth anniversary in 1998 with an epic journey through fifty countries in fifty days. From the camera of Wayne Mitchelson and presented with commentary by members of the original Fifty/50 team.

Starting from Solihull the team drove through Western Europe to North Cape then entered Eastern Europe. On to the Middle East where the heat prepared them for the last leg through Africa. They finished at South Cape.

'Range Rover - 40 Years Of An Icon'

Former Land Rover PR Manager and author of the 'Land Rover Scrapbook', Mike Gould takes you through four decades of Range Rover history using material uncovered for his new book - 'Range Rover - The Anniversary Guide'. Illustrated with images from the book and delivered in his relaxed style, the presentation will be followed by the opportunity to talk to Mike.

Mike joined the Rover Company in 1972 and one of his earliest recollections was seeing the British Trans-Americas Range Rovers arriving back at Solihull. Mike started his career in Vehicle Cost Analysis and within the first two years at Rover, he reckons to have gained an intimate knowledge with every vehicle component and every workshop where they were produced.

Mike went on to be in charge of pricing for Land Rover before joining the Product Planning Department in charge of military vehicles. During the 1990s, he was Brand Manager for Defender before going on the road as Regional Business Manager for the South East just in time for a baptism of fire launching the Second Generation P38A Range Rover. After a short spell at Special Vehicles where he concentrated on developing the Autobiography programme for Range Rover he joined the Corporate Communications department becoming Public Relations Manager for the UK. Taking early retirement at the end of 2002, Mike was soon busy writing for Land Rover Owner International, Land Rover Monthly and Land Rover World magazines as well as contributing to Dove Publications 'Land Rover File'.

His career as an author continued with his own book, 'The Land Rover Scrapbook', published by Porter Press International and acclaimed as being among the best books ever written about Land Rover. Mike was editor of Land Rover World for a short time before his energetic past caught up with him as he faced a series of operations on his failing knees. His new book 'Range Rover - The Anniversary Guide', also published by Porter Press is due out at the end of June to mark the 40th anniversary of the model. He is also Consultant Editor to Land Rover World and is also working on other new projects. With over 30 years of experience at the heart of Land Rover, Mike's unique insight adds a personal touch to any presentation about the company.
